Hi Reader, “She’s so lucky.” And I know it’s not meant to be offensive. But if you were sitting across from me at my kitchen table, I’d probably lean in and say this quietly: “I’m not lucky.” And I don’t think you are either. People see the life. And they say, But they don’t see the before. I was a teenage girl in the Philippines. No one looked at that and said, “She’s lucky.” They see me now and say, But they don’t see the workouts. They see my kids and say, But I grew up in a home that taught me love. They see my husband and say, And I get that. But I also grew up with brothers who loved me first. That shaped everything. And then there’s the life I now have. The expansive reach (wings). I remember the homemade wings I used to make with my older sister for my angel costume for church during the holidays. The version of me that was still figuring it out. That version doesn’t get erased just because this version exists. So when people say “lucky,” I understand what they mean. I also know what it leaves out. It leaves out the choices. If I’m being honest with you… I feel more grateful than lucky. Grateful I kept going. If you were here with me, I’d ask you this: What in your life are people calling “lucky” that actually has a story behind it? Reply and tell me. And if you’re still in your “homemade wings” season, don’t rush it. That part matters more than you think. If you want support while you’re building, just reply and I’ll meet you where you are. I'm blessed. Blessed to write this to you. To have you on my list. To call you a community member. Stay true to what makes you happy and stop comparing yourself to others. It kills happiness. Hi Reader, I had a coffee meeting with a female business owner and a dear friend yesterday. She just went over her 7 figures and she's never been so lost. It's obviously not because she doesn't know what she's doing, it's because she's making big decisions...alone. Every entrepreneur wants the same thing; how to go to their "next level". We need to talk. I know we think if we just make more money, we would solve all our problems. That's just not the case. You're smart, capable and have done...
Hi Reader, If you’ve ever been awful to yourself… Try saying those same words out loud to the woman sitting next to you. Or the next woman you see. Really say it. This week, I went to a curated event called, The Over 40 Revolution by Darina Neyret and I can't unhear so a lot of the takeaways I went home with it so I decided to write about it. I hope you don't mind. We were asked to think about the labels we’ve called ourselves before. Too fat. Too skinny. Too old. Too much. Not enough. Then...
Hi Reader, What a label to label self! That was my identity for a long time. If anything felt technical, I’d immediately tell myself,“That’s not for me.” And for a while, that story kept me feeling very safe. Safe from trying, failing and looking like I didn’t know what I was doing. What it also did was it kept me stuck. The truth is… I wasn’t confused because it was hard. I was confused because I was overthinking everything. Too many platforms, tools and opinions. I thought I needed to...
